Games don't run online but work offline - 2008/02/04 05:30
I've got a site where i've added a page with some c64 stuff I wrote about 20 years ago. The problem is that the games load and run fine when i'm testing the site locally but when I put it online they don't work. The javascript links work fine and trigger the emulator to load the file, all the paths are correct but when the emulator goes to run the program nothing happens and typing list reveals that nothing has been loaded.

A few people have managed to get it to work but it's not working for everyone, including me.

Any help would be appreciated. The URL is http://www.etg-software.co.uk/c64.html

Ok, on further investigation it appears that this problem only surfaces when using Firefox. The version I have is 2.0.0.11. IE7, Opera and Safari all work ok.

Strangely some other sites such as http://www.dreamfabric.com/c64/ and http://www.redesign.sk/tnd64/don't work in Firefox anymore either, they'll auto load but loading any other game with the links doesn't work.

Strange problem. It seems like the files can not be accessed using firefox. I get the following error:

Error when opening url http://www.dreamfabric.com/c64/games/thrust.t64 java.security.AccessControlException: access denied (java.net.SocketPermission 195.47.247.62:80 connect,resolve)

This should not happen since an applet should be able to connect back to its "server" which seems to fail here. I'll see if I can find any solution to the problem.
